Award Winning File Backup & Synchronisation Solution
  • 82% of home PC users don’t do regular backup. How often do you backup important documents on your PC?
  • 66% of home PC users have lost pictures and files on their home PC. 42% within the last year. What would you do if you lost your precious digital photos or music files?
  • Could you remember all your Web Browser "Favourite" links if your PC crashed? Or the email addresses for your contacts?

I support a number of colleagues' PC's. I'm always asking them "have you backed up your data"? We all know we SHOULD back our data up but as research shows time and time again, we rarely actually do it.

If you do not backup your data or your existing solution is so complicated it just sits on your hard drive, doing nothing, I seriously suggest you take a look at GoodSync.

GoodSync is an easy, secure and reliable way to synchronise and backup any type of PC data.

Key Features:

  • One-Way Synchronisation of the data you define provides an easy, reliable backup solution
  • 'Two-Way' File and Folder Synchronisation means any changes are reflected in the "mirror" copy.
  • Variety of Automatic Backup & Synchronisation options. You can relax in the knowledge that your files will be backed up at the specific intervals that you define.
  • Backup or Synchronise to a removable Drive such as USB Pen Drive, Flash Card, CDRW or Network attached drive.
  • Network Synchronisation allows PC's attached to a Local Area Network such as a Home Network including Wireless connected devices.

Ease of Use:

I have found GoodSync fast and easy to set up. It is even easier to use on an ongoing basis. To install, you simply download the software, specify the files or directories you want to sync and then click "Synchronize". The next time you open the software all you need to do is click "Synchronize” to continually back up the files you want. Once set up it is literally one click of a mouse.

My first run of the software took less than two minutes. It then took another two minutes to set up the automatic sync. With a little exploration of what is on your system, this process in itself is enough for most back up requirements.

Product Performance

Pros: Ease of use, speed of operation and connection, and user defined functions for automatic backup.

Cons: The free version comes with a limitation to the number of jobs and files you can backup and that is quickly used up.

Free vs. Paid: - There is a simple and quick comparison of Free vs. ‘Pro’ versions here but in essence the paid for, Pro version offers unlimited jobs and file synchronisation, free updates and phone support.

The free version is unlimited for 30 days. After 30 days it limits you to up to 3 jobs and 100 files to be routinely backed up or synchronized.

Does the unlimited job / files capability warrant the upgrade to Pro? Simply put, if you update photos, music, email contacts or other data on your PC more than once a month, yes. The upgrade costs just under £24 – that is £2 a month to never lose your files.

Personal Experience: - When it comes to how I actually use GoodSync, I have it as ‘set and forget'. I use the automatic feature to run 10 different jobs on a regular basis and to different locations and devices.

The "Nigel Docs Backup" alone has 28,000 files which is why I purchased the Pro version.

GoodSync covers both my personal and business files.

My main reason for using GoodSync is to prevent me from losing data so “set and forget” covers off what I need without complication.

Other people’s experience:- GoodSync has achieved many awards including praise from technology magazines PC Pro and Network World. Both of these magazines commented on the ease of use. PC Magazine has awarded GoodSync with an editor’s choice and GeekFiles.com rated it with 5 stars.

Summary:

GoodSync is an easy to use, intuitive and reliable backup solution. It’s quick at what it does and can do it automatically so you don’t have to worry.
